It does hold a wheel and tire well
By from Phoenix, AZ, USA on Jan 06, 2015
Overall this is a no brainer review. It does what it is supposed too. My only complaint is that I have a 13 inch wheel on it and it hangs quite a way below the neck. Maybe this would be a manufacturer improvement. Make the spare tire holder match up with the wheel stand so they can share opposite sides of the same place on the neck. Just my two cents worth.

Great Accessory
By from Wilson, NC on Jun 17, 2014
Like the fact that it could be mount on the tongue or side rails. Mounted mine on the side rail because I have a trailer jack and there was not room for both on the tongue. Also the golf cart over hangs the front of the trailer and it would have been in the way. Have to make sure it is very tight though. First time it slipped, after tightening again, it has worked great!. Beats having to remember to get the spare and put in in the back of the truck. Would definitely purchase again. After bolting on, I took a grinder with a gutting wheel and cut off the extra length of the bolts because they stuck out past the bracket. Did not want to accidentally hit them with the golf cart tire when loading.

Spare tire mount very durable, easy to mount, and very flexible on where you mount it. very good quality made item that should do the job for a long time.

Good price. However, was missing the two lug nuts.
By from Oxford, Alabama on Mar 28, 2014
Had to buy the two lug nuts that hold the tire to the mount. They were not in the box.

Mounted Horizontally for Better Ground Clearance
By from Big Bear, CA, USA on Jan 21, 2014
Like another reviewer here, I too mounted the spare tire/wheel carrier horizontally onto my trailer''s tongue for better ground clearance. Heck, with its 12" tires, my Carry-On trailer sits low enough already. Since this spare tire/wheel carrier/rack was actually designed to be mounted vertically, there is a bit of a gap between the tongue and each side of the bracket''s mounting bolts; however, I will have a local welding shop add a couple of small steel blocks, as well as weld the entire bracket onto the trailer''s tongue in order to prevent possible theft. Securing the spare tire/wheel assembly to the bracket will be done via two welded (actual) wheel studs with locking (keyed) lug nuts...just to ''keep the honest guy honest'' if you know what I mean. The remaining two locking wheel nuts will be added to my trailer''s existing wheels. Trust me, I''ve known too many individuals who had taken the time to secure/lock-down their spare, but didn''t even think about locking-down the trailer''s actual tire/wheel assemblies to the hubs. The rack''s quality appears to be strong enough to do the job and all nuts/bolts/washers came shipped inside a plastic bag included in the product''s retail box. Although the installation of this rack was easy enough to figure-out by just looking at the box''s photos, the included instructions (parts list) was clear enough to understand...cheers.

Missing parts, instructions with nonsense
By from Tulsa, OK, USA on May 30, 2012
Nuts and lock washers were missing - the parts were listed in the understandable part of the instruction sheet but were not included in the package. I did not want to bother with returning this so I just went and bought the missing nuts and lock washers. The installation diagram was unclear - it was a bad print that looked like it was a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy. The instructions indicating how to install this had nonsensical sentences and grammatical errors. I finally just tossed the instructions aside and fiddled with it on my own until I figured it out. I have not actually installed the product yet but if it actually works, that will be nice.

Poor Packaging
By from south Lyon MI on Sep 10, 2011
The tire carrier itself if well-built and works great. However, it was shipped (shipped to my home) with all of the mounting hardware loose in the box. The paint was badly chipped exposing bare metal in multiple areas, and some rust was already forming. I had to make a trip to the hardware for primer and paint before installing.

Spare tire carrier
By from on Aug 22, 2011
I mounted the carrier in its normal vertical position, mounted the tire with a cover over the tire and figured the tire would rub the ground and tear up the cover if the not the tire and carrier if it encountered any low spots. I remounted the carrier so the tire now lays flat in the "A" of the trailer. That seems to work fine except that water now pools in the spare tire cover. I still like the carrier for the price.
