3rd Season of Use
By from Delaware, USA on Apr 21, 2016
This is a good product if you take care of it. Care is minimal and includes spray painting the rusty spots with high heat black paint, keeping it clean, covering it when not in use, storing it in an enclose area during the winter months when not in use. I removed the thumb grip on the top cover because it damaged the cover. I also cut out a screen from 1/4" x 1/4" galvanized wire cloth to fit in the top over the original spark guard because the original spark guard was allowing sparks to pass through. The one I made does a good job and very few sparks come through now. The only negative I have is that the cover is made from a very thin material that cannot endure high winds. It tears easily when the wind blows hard. I would recommend taking the cover, when new, to someone who can make a cover out of a heavier, water-proof fabric using the original cover as a pattern.

TERRIBLE PRODUCT THAT WILL NOT LAST!
By from Paducah, KY, USA on Mar 19, 2016
Bought this thinking it would be a great product and that it would last, but was I surprised! Only the top and the lid are heavier metal. The entire bottom portion (including the surrounding screen) is very thin steel that will rust away quickly. Ours lasted a couple of seasons and everything below the top was rusted away to nothing, despite sitting on our covered patio. This thin metal cannot take any moisture and as soon as the rust starts (and believe me it will) the thing will quickly dissolve away. This thing should be taken off the market because it is not worth it and it will not last. I know of two other people who bought this and had the same thing happen. It rusted away quickly! This is horrible quality product and I feel cheated and had to throw the thing away after only a couple of seasons with little use!

It''s a rust bucket
By from Southeast Florida on Dec 29, 2015
I''m looking for a new chiminea because this one fell apart. The top sections are heavy steel, but the legs, grates, screens are all thin high carbon steel and rust out very quickly. When I got it I sprayed these pieces twice very liberally with black grill paint, set the flimsy feet elevated from the patio on top of 1/2" thick paver stones so they would not sit in water, but the screens, legs, bottom pan all rusted out till it fell over of its own weight this past fall 2015 after 3 years of use. If the screens, bottom pan and grill were made of stainless and the feet were heavier this would be a GREAT product, but as it is, it is not worth owning.

Poor QC and badly bent major parts! I must fix.
By from Niceville, FL on Dec 27, 2015
Nice to get such a nice Christmas present from the kids yesterday. Today, assembling it, find prepackaged hardware (inventoried and shrink wrapped) incorrect/incomplete with missing screws and extra washers! (I have LOTS of hardware...so no big thing...just an aggravation.) The box this chiminea was packaged in had no evidence of damage....impressed with all the styrofoam packing around each major chimney part on unpacking...but installing the screen (1/2 way through the build) I find that it''s pretty badly bent in on one side. IT DOESN''T FIT! (See image) Guess I could call the 1-800 number and they''d send another in a week or so. Don''t have my son''s Lowe''s receipt - he probably bought at a store near his home 3 hours distant - so I can''t easily toke it to one of my local Lowe''s. I am so p***ed, I will first try and re-bend the round screen assembly structure (E) to try and get it round (and trued) so it can fit. Mad and dissatisfied with the product because of it''s poor QC (to put out products like this with major re-work requirements). I would NOT recommend this product! OK - here''s an update an hour or so later. I was able to re-bend the round screen so it was round. HARD to get the screws in...I think because the bend was where the weld was in the bottom support strip...and I think it was made (welded!) just a tad too long. The upper rim of the upper stove assembly (G) has an indentation that the bottom of the round screen assembly (E) should fit into. It didn''t - just a tad too big around (even after I made it round!) to ffit in the groove! I started (just fastened the nut to the screw on) three of the connecting tabs, but the other was too far from the screen tab to let me connect, so I used a longer screw and bolt, tightened it so it was in the ballpark, then held it in place with a needle-nose vise grip and then (finally!) was able (finally to get that screw started. After all were 4 screws were attached I slowly screwed them in and the screen was forced (sort of) into the bottom groove of the (G) upper stove assembly. OK, I thought, it''s about done. THEN I noted that the sliding screen door assembly didn''t fit well either, so I had to re-bend it so it fit the contour of the screen assembly. (!) In the course of doing THAT, I saw i had a piece of the screen (about a 1/4 inch long) sticking strait out) ready to cut me (or anyone trying to slide the screen cover). (See image) OK...that took just a needle nose pliers to make ready to snip off with a wire cutter, and then a file smoothed that issue away. But THEN, installing the top chimney body (C), I discovered that the screen slide rail (on the screen body) would not allow the sliding door screen to move with the chimney body in place! OK, off with the chimney body to re-bend the slider rail so that it allowed the door to move. LOTS and LOTS of ''fixes needed'' for this product. I am sure it will work fine now. My son will never know (unless he reads this), but you now know how crippled this product is if you''ve read this review.

nice, but DEFECTIVE
By from Muskegon, MI, USA on Dec 02, 2015
This unit should never have been boxed up. Opened box, counted parts and everything was there, too good to be true. Was assembling the last part when I felt something odd inside the cast iron portion. Took flash light and saw a large area that appeared to have been broken off, and had a splice added to keep it together and the area had been welded and painted. Called a welder and explained what manufacturer had done and he said take it back. As with the Liberty Bell it would only recrack again in same place. will write another review when I have put together and used the replacement chiminea.

Excellent center piece for the deck
By from Kingston, NY, USA on Nov 15, 2015
At first the Chiminea was a little difficult to put together and it would have helped if I had a second pair of hands. However once complete it looked fantastic! Very sturdy and good material. Looks like something you could pick up at a smaller specialty hardware store and not so much the big box stores. Very easy to get a fire going and once set it let off a good amount of heat for our company. Perfect size for any deck and a very unique look as we received many compliments from friends on our first night of use.

Be careful with this product!!
By from Rochester, NY, USA on Oct 07, 2015
We''ve had our chiminea for about 3 years. (since August 2012# We used it about twice a month only in the fall. It was great for burning logs and not smoking us out until last week when we had been enjoying sitting by the fire for about 30 minutes when the entire chiminea full of wood and fire#minus the base) toppled over just missing hitting me by 6 inches. It had been on a stable level ground but the base just disintegrated! I can''t believe Lowe''s would sell something that could be that dangerous. Obviously the base should''ve been built to withstand fire! The grates burned up the first season we had the chiminea which was bad enough but the base should''ve been strong enough to last as long as the rest of the item. Thank goodness no one was hurt.
