What are today’s hottest trends in home decor?

Boho

Though it has enjoyed considerable popularity for several years now, the boho look is still very much on-trend. The key to boho is neutral colours and heavy use of texture. Natural materials like wool, cotton, and wood combined with a monochromatic ambiance create a cozy nest.

Japandi

Japandi is a style currently growing in popularity. This unique design has both Japanese and Scandinavian influences, giving it a linear and minimalist feel. It combines the function and warmth of Scandinavian design with the clean lines and natural fibres of Japan’s aesthetic.

What are the best colour palettes for the bedroom?

The top colour bedroom trends at the moment are:

80s- and 90s-inspired colours that add some vintage flair to the room.
Pastel colours add a delicate accent of colour to minimalist as well as boho decors (cushions, carpets, bedding, candles, and vases). The Danish pastel bedroom trend is a great example of this.
Beige-pink shades are enjoying popularity in boho decor.
Lavender blue and green are very much on-trend at the moment as well. They’ve risen in popularity with the biophilia trend, which seeks to bring nature into the home with plants, botanical patterns, and various shades of green.

How do you ensure a warm and calm bedroom ambiance?

When it comes to bedroom ambiance it’s not only about the colours, but also about the accessories. The key to making a bedroom feel cozy is to use many textures and textiles. Something I like to do in order to give the space extra warmth and a “hotel luxury” feel is to place a big area rug under the bed. Wood has a warm and welcoming feel to it as well, and it should be the material of choice for your bedroom furniture.

What are your bedroom lighting recommendations?

There are three main types of lighting in the bedroom.

General lighting: The main source of light in the room that illuminates the entire space.
Functional lighting: Lighting fixtures, such as reading lights and desk lamps, that help to highlight specific areas requiring more light.
Ambiance lighting: Soft lighting similar to candlelight that serves as a nightlight.
