This post is sponsored by Lowe's Canada, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A few weeks ago, I shared our plans for our laundry room and kitchen tile home reno and I am so excited to share an even bigger reveal! What started as a much-needed upgrade to our kitchen and laundry room floor, ended up with us adding a ton of value to our home. I’m positive that if you have done any home renovations before, you completely understand that ripple effect that naturally happens in doing so.
You simply get something done, love it and want more of it to match everything else! So after we finished our flooring, we contacted a contractor (or two), made tons of trips to my local Lowe’s Canada, learned more about kitchen cabinets than we ever thought we would, and now, we have a wonderful addition to our kitchen! Shopping at Lowe’s, I knew I was getting the best value every time I would make an addition to the project.
In case you missed my plan to this project, you can catch it here. Like I said previously, we wanted to update our dreadful and cracked kitchen and laundry room tile. Even though it was neutral and easy on the eyes, there were more tiles broken than not and it was time for an upgrade.
After browsing Lowes.ca, we ended up falling in love with Style Selections Porcelain Granite Floor and Wall Tile in charcoal and pairing it with the MAPEI Keracolor Sanded Grout in Pewter. But we didn’t stop there. Thanks to Lowe’s large selection of kitchen cabinets, we had the idea of swapping our blank wall in the kitchen (where our pub style kitchen table was) with matching kitchen cabinets for some much needed kitchen storage.
So, during one of our trips to Lowe’s Canada, we took a peek over in the kitchen department. To our surprise, we could perfectly match our original cabinets with a custom cabinetry order. Lowe’s has Kitchen Specialists in store, who can help you select what best suits your style, taste and budget, as well as coordinate your installation. When we stopped by, they had a combination of a few sales going on, but we knew it would still be an investment.
After seeing our hesitation to have our kitchen and laundry floor budget increase dramatically, the lovely Lowe’s Kitchen Specialist suggested the Nimble Cabinet Collection by Diamond available exclusively at Lowe’s. There was an identical style of cabinets for a third of the price that we could take home that day! The only catch? We would need to paint them to match ours, but with the opportunity to save thousands of dollars, we were sold!
In the end, here’s a combination of the additional cabinets and accessories we purchased:
We went with the Nimble Sea Salt Collection and paired it with Valspar Ultra Kitchen & Bath Paint and Primer with no tint. The base cabinets and wall boxes were already white, so we only needed to paint the door fronts and side panels, which my husband and I knocked out after a few evenings of lining them up in the dining room. To get the look we wanted, we did 4 coats of paint which only used 1 gallon of the entire container!
After they were dry, it was time for installation! My husband, dad and I were able to install all the cabinets in a few hours thanks to the quick, easy and agile installation. But if you’re not interested in a DIY, Lowe’s offers installation services, too.
We honestly couldn’t be happier the way both the tile and the cabinets have worked out. The tiles have made our main floor look 10x bigger and both the new flooring and cabinets have added value to our home. Plus, I am very much looking forward to enjoying our new space with a bottle of wine or two from our new wine fridge (did you know Lowe’s has a ton of wine fridges and coolers? Check them out here).
After all is said and done, I am so glad I worked with Lowe’s Canada on our project. Without tons of online resources like (floor buying guides and inspirational articles) as well as in-store kitchen specialists at Lowe’s, we would have been lost! Lowe’s Canada has thousands of products covering every area of home improvement from the top brands you know and trust, so it’s no wonder it has become our home’s one-stop shop for all of the projects to come. My only issue? Deciding on what's next!
