Cozy for the Holidays

This post is sponsored by Lowe's Canada, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. With the holiday season finally amongst us, it was time to create a space full of twinkle lights and sparkle, where my family and friends could gather together. With a few simple touches from the Lowes Canada Holiday Living Collection, I was able to create a cozy ‘Home for the Holidays’ vibe.

I was inspired by the look of fresh snow glistening in the sunlight this year, so I created my very own indoor Winter Wonderland. Different shades of white and flocked branches spoke to me as I began the design process.

Here is a quick look at the before; My tip for the first step you should take when decorating for the holidays is to start off with a clean slate. Remove all of your existing décor to make room for holiday items. This will allow the process to seem less daunting and not feel overly cluttered.

I came across a pre-lit flocked garland and immediately grabbed it for my mantle. The fact that it’s already lit makes it easy, and gives off a beautiful warm glow. I opted to give my mantle an asymmetrical look with the garland by having one side reach the floor. With this, I wanted to add some symmetry, so I placed matching feather trees and mercury glass trees on each end, which also gave some height and interest.

I added some beautiful letter ornaments that I found on sale, to identify each of our stockings. The white is so sleek and the gold edge detail adds a touch of sophistication.

Over to the left of the fireplace and chair, I grouped a few of those same trees that were featured on the mantle for an easy Winter vignette. I am in love with the whimsical look of these feather trees!

I kept my coffee table tray fairly simple as I didn’t want it to compete with the mantle. I found these beautiful white-washed wooden candle holders with white pillar candles, added those to my tray, and voila! A simple, yet cozy look. The best part is that the candle holders come in two sizes, so you can mix and match them.

After the living room, I wanted to add a touch of Winter Wonderland to my entryway, especially since this is the first impression of your home. An entryway is where the story begins, so I added more of those feather trees grouped together and I love how it turned out! The vignette possibilities are truly endless with these. I love that it ties in the two spaces; It makes my home feel cohesive while being festive.

Now that my home is decorated, I can sit back and enjoy the view! If Winter whites aren’t your go-to, Lowes Canada has a wide selection of festive décor for any holiday scene.

Are you a Winter Wonderland lover like me, or do you gravitate towards the traditional reds?
