An Easy Front Porch Makeover

It's amazing how paint and plants can be a total game changer for fixing up a space! Our front porch was just fine how it was, totally bland and vanilla, but fine. I knew I wanted to personalize it a little since we moved in last fall, but I wanted it to be a simple makeover that was easy, affordable, and make this small space POP. I worked with Lowe’s Canada on my mini front porch makeover and I'm telling you, pretty flowers, greens, and a little bit of paint made this little spot in our home shine!

Check out the before and after...

I painted our front door with SICO Paints in Adobe Rose (I had it tinted 75 percent lighter) including the window trim on the door - this gave it a custom craftsman style look (despite it being a typical builder grade front door).

Lowe’s has some amazing planters to choose from! I stayed with some neutral greys to let the pretty flowers shine. I wanted my planters to look a little wild, so I planted a mix of delicate flowers and trailing greens (lambs ear is easily one of my favourites). I also planted this gorgeous tropical plant in the back. She's so leafy and green, it creates a jungle vibe here which I love! It's an indoor plant usually, but with the summer temperatures where I live, she will do just fine out here for now.

Adding in some height with the tropical plant is perfect, but any sort of mini tree or a potted long grass would look amazing as well.

Tip: Group the planter pots in threes to give a little more of a statement in a small space.

I also gave the porch a good pressure wash to clear the wood from all the winter grime and mud (this really freshened up the wood and made it shine), then I layered two rugs; I used a larger runner style rug underneath to really ground the space and freshened up with a new front door mat – cute, right?

It feels so bright and cheery here now! I'm in love with our blush pink door and all the leafy greens, and since we don't have our backyard finished currently, the kids can play out here with their toys. I finally have a cozy place to chill while they dig in the dirt!
