A Stylish Update to a Small Condo Bedroom

This post is sponsored by Lowe's Canada, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you live in a city condo like I do, you probably understand the challenges that come with a small space. I moved into my new home one month ago and quickly realized that every square footage and corner in the condo counts! Question was, where do I find furniture for small spaces and how do I use each piece of real estate to my advantage?

One of my favourite rooms is the bedroom; tons of natural light, high ceilings, with a sizeable nook where I envisioned a beauty station I'd get ready in every morning. I didn't want a vanity set because I knew a chair would get in the way, so I spent weeks hunting for the perfect furniture that would fit (40-in x 91-in). I struggled a bit; couldn't find something that would leave space for storage (if need be) and suited my flare for vintage with a touch of modern. I parked an old book shelf in its place for the interim, and as you can see, it wasn't an inspiring corner to wake up to every morning.

I knew I needed furniture that would not only tick off the aforementioned needs but inject some warmth as well.  I had heard through the grapevine that Lowe's Canada was a one stop shop for furniture, accents, and DIY tools, so I went online, found their Home Decor & Furniture category, and got creative.

I came across the Nexera White and Walnut 4 Drawer Chest with a beautiful walnut finish and classic white panels.  The drawers were deep enough for me to fit the extra pieces of clothing I had crammed into my closet. It was a done deal.

To create a full beauty nook, I knew I needed a sizeable mirror. I was ecstatic when I came across the Columbia Frame 22-in x 35-in Vintage Rail Classic Rustic Stain Mirror!  Beautiful rustic brown, hand waxed finish, and hand forged metal lining the top. Dreams!

Before I checked out, I remembered I had old picture frames sitting in a box, so I searched chalk paint and found Chalked 887ml Ultra Matte Paint to give them a fresh look. I selected Chiffon Cream, and away I went!

The end result has made the nook practical while adding a ton of character to the room. The dresser is incredibly sturdy, the top is so spacious that I can still have my books laid out while the repainted frames sit perfectly on top, and the rustic design of the mirror gives the wall the vintage touch I wanted!

I wouldn't call myself a design expert by any means, but this process has taught me that creativity and patience can go a very long way.  If you're looking to re-invent a small space or set one up from scratch, don't settle.  Get that measuring tape out, get creative, and make it easy on yourself by making it a one stop shopping experience.
