How to Create a Broom Parking for Halloween

This broom parking craft project is a great way to liven up your entryway and spend some time with your family. Plus, it only takes five easy steps. Just remember, it’s broom-only parking—any other vehicles will be "toad"!

    Cut the Pine Planks

    1.1 Use a mitre or circular saw to cut the four pine boards for a rectangular box thick enough to accommodate all the broom handles (dowels). We went for a 28” x 2.5” x 5.5” box.

Ensure a square cut by using a carpenter square as a guide.

    Drill the Wooden Dowels

    2.1 Use a table clamp to keep the wooden dowels secure.


    2.2 Cut the different broom handles to varying lengths.


    2.3 Round off the end of each broom with a sander.


    2.4 Drill a hole into the end of each dowel for a small rope to pass through.

    Paint the Box and Broom Handles

    3.1 Pick up a paint brush and paint the base black.


    3.2 Paint the broom handles in different colours like orange, white, green, or purple. Alternatively, you can simply leave them natural.


    3.3 Decorate the box with a sign, either by painting it freehand or using stickers. Here are a few ideas:

    • Happy Halloween

    Decorate the Brooms

    4.1 Spiff up the brooms with your choice of accessories like straw, branches, ribbons, tape, stickers, glitter, and raffia.

    Bring It All Together

    5.1 Position the brooms along the board as you prefer and attach each one using two screws.


    5.2 Use finishing nails to connect the remaining box pieces.


    5.3 Assemble the hardware necessary to secure the project to the wall.
