Measuring & Installing

Believe it or not, there is a wide variety of register sizes available. Before you buy, make sure to measure the inside dimensions of the air duct. Don't try to buy from memory or from "eyeballing." For floor registers, lift the old one out and put the new one in. How's that for simplicity? Occasionally, the duct box isn't even or flush with the floor and you'll have to push the box back down to the level of the floor. Wall and ceiling registers are basically the same. Simply secure them with the screws provided.

Operating & Maintaining

Levels control the airflow amount and direction of heated or cooled air. Vacuum or dust to keep the louvers clean and the levers operating smoothly. Use a damp cloth if necessary — avoid household cleaners that could tarnish the material. Registers with filters can be washed under a faucet to remove dust. Let them dry completely before returning them to service.
