Hatichi 18 volt drill
By from panama city florida on Dec 03, 2015
The drill itself is great. After about 6 months the batteries will not hold a charge hardly at all.

almost too much torque and I like the 40 min or less lithium charge time

Easy to use and Powerful
By from Grove, Ok on Oct 02, 2015
I''m a 74 yr old female that needed to replace a corded drill. I really wanted a 24 volt, but didn''t want to pay the price. It came with 2 batteries and a flashlight. I used the drill to build a 12'' flower box and really thought it performed good. Was not too heavy, and seemed to have all the power I could handle. I like that it''s a 1/2" drill instead of the 3/8" of my previous drill. The staff at Lowe''s are always friendly and helpful. I''m very pleased with the Hitachi brand.

Great Drill

Drill is Great. I also got the Impact Driver in a separate purchase. Only complaint is the Light is NOT LED, still old flashlight bulb technology. Or even better, do not include and lower the price.

I bought a Hitachi for myself years ago, one for my oldest son when he struck out on his own, and now this one for my younger son. I''ve had mine for close to ten years now. This one is the lightest of the three, but no less powerful. The feature that wins it for me--and there are plenty of good cordless drills out there--is the work light on the front that shines on the spot you are drilling/bit driving. You don''t really appreciate it until you''re on your back in a tight space, trying to see what you''re doing and don''t have the space or enough hands free to put a flashlight on your work. The hard shell carrying case is nice, though I rarely use it. It''s one of things you don''t need, unless you need it badly. The batteries--at least for me--have always charged pretty rapidly, and by the time one wears down, the other is ready to go. I''ve never been in a spot where I couldn''t keep working because I''d run out of battery power. Practically everything in my shop is Kobalt now, but this is the one significant exception. You can adjust the amount of torque, and you can adjust the speed with two settings, plus the amount of pressure on the trigger for good control. The little work light puts it over the top.

Poor long term performance.
By from Inver Grove Heights, MN on Feb 23, 2015
I bought these on sale at a great price and was super happy to own them... for about 6 months. After the 6 month mark 1 of the batteries stopped working, wouldn''t take a charge. Not a huge deal, most of my projects I never used up more than 1 battery. However the 2nd battery has now sopped taking a charge so now I have 2 tools sitting here with no power. I could go buy 2 batteries and get them back up and running but for the price of 2 batteries I could get a whole new drill. The good new is the drill (Black and Decker) I owned before the Hitachi still works like a champ, not as powerful or light weight, but hey it works.

Perfectly fits my hand. The added light device is totally useless to me.
