Good saw Great Value
By from Location on Jul 17, 2015
This is one of the few 71/4 miter saws on the market, and the only sliding 71/4 miter saw in the highly affordable category. The saw works well once you switch out the blade for a quality one from Dewalt or Milwaukee. Forget about relying on the laser, it is not that accurate. Cut speed is good, no bogging down when used for trim, 2x4, etc. The clamp is an excellent feature, it really holds the work very steady. The fence could be a little higher. I can''t comment yet on long term durability, we''ll see. Overall, when on sale, this saw is a steal for those who are tired of lugging around 50 pound 12 in miter saws.

A good value miter saw. Gets the job done!
By from Milton, ON on Jul 05, 2015
This is a decent, no frills-type of miter saw. If you''re a DIYer with basic needs, this miter saw will work for you just fine. Be aware that the cutting laser isn''t completely accurate- the blade cuts to the left of the laser (but the laser is still helpful).

Picked this up as part of the recent Buy One Get One promotion and am very impressed with the power and quality of the unit. Great little saw and I''d recommend it to anyone who needs a small, easily transportable good quality mitre saw. Great addition to the home DIY arsenal

Nice saw
By from Michigan on Mar 31, 2015
I expected the laser to go down the middle of the kerf. It shows about a quarter inch East of the kerf. I may not know how to use the laser but there were no directions on what to expect.

A light-weight saw to good to travel with
By from Meridian, MS, USA on Mar 19, 2015
I own the larger 10" version of this Kobalt Compound Sliding Miter Saw which is also very portable, but needing to sometimes leave the saw when traveling to do some side work, I got the 7-1/4 version because of a job I was doing laying laminate flooring. I could leave it and still have my 10" version living in my shop and not go through the rigamarole of moving it. The 7-1/4 size is nice, still big enough to cut flooring or most 2"xX" or 1"xX" material or molding though to cut Crown on it would be pushing it. Like most Miter Saws the platform could be deeper from front to back, but I''ve gotten into the habit of taking some sawhorses, an extension ladder laid on flat on the sawhorse and two pieces of lumber cut to the correct height as out-lying supports as a stand for this saw so that doesn''t really matter. You can get a custom miter saw stand, but the ladder trick works great and you can probably look up videos on YouTube to help you understand the trick and add it to your arsenal.

I have 12 inch sliding saw, but still love this 7 inch one. Very light, easy to move around. no problem with 2X6 with sliding. Very pleased.

7 1/4" Kobalt sliding miter saw
By from Boise, ID, USA on Mar 01, 2015
This is my first miter saw, I read the directions and started building our home bar. I love it. It''s so easy to use, very light to carry back and forth to storage. As a woman who doesn''t have much for power tools building experience, but lots of project ideas, I''m thrilled with how easy it is use.

Functional but not too safe in my experience
By from North Pole, AK on Feb 23, 2015
Bought this saw about 2 years ago and can say the saw itself cuts okay--not a lot of power, but functional for the recreational woodworker. The safety of the product and the inability to get replacement parts is where I have major issues. A few months after I bought it (and only sporadic use) the blade guard apparently vibrated loose without my noticing and wobbled enough to get hit by the blade. It shattered into several sharp pieces which went flying around my shop. Fortunately the one that hit me only hit my hand and not my face. So strike one for poor craftsmanship. I pulled out the manual and called the number listed for replacement parts. After sitting on hold for 30 MINUTES, I finally got to talk to an operator (from India?) who was friendly enough, but seemed to have trouble understanding English. I was able to give the specific part number from the manual as well the specific part name. He assured me a part would be sent out free of charge--no problem. Several days later I did get a part...the cutting guide that mounts to the back of the base. Not willing to sit on hold for another half hour only to talk to someone who evidently couldn''t understand English, I stopped by Lowes to see what my options where for getting a replacement part through them since that''s where I bought the saw. The two customer service reps I talked to in the tool department didn''t know what to tell me, but promised to look into it.They took my information and phone number and promised to call me within a couple days. After not hearing back for several days, I had to follow up with them, and when I did, they had no record of the interaction, so I started at square one again, again receiving assurance it would be looked into and some direction would be given. Same story. I eventually gave up and just removed the rest of the jagged remains of the guard from the saw and use it VERY carefully until I can afford a higher quality tool.
