Frigidaire is an American brand of consumer and commercial appliances. It was founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1916 as the Guardian Frigerator Company, and just two years later, William C. Durant, a founder of General Motors, personally invested in the company and it adopted the name Frigidaire in 1919. Since then, Frigidaire has made several notable achievements in the industry, including the first electric self-contained refrigerator (1918), the first home freezer, the first room air conditioner, the first 30 in. electric range, and coordinated colours for home appliances.
