Quick Lawn Care Steps
For Laying Turf

Get the lush, green lawn your landscape deserves with fresh sod!
Sod is a perishable product, so treat it with care. Always make sure to
store sod in the shade and sprinkle with water in hot or dry weather.

1. Prep the area and lay the sod

Begin immediately after delivery. Rake the soil and sprinkle with water to prep the surface, ensuring
there are no low areas. Fill holes with topsoil to avoid gaps between the soil and the sod. Lay the first
roll of sod along your sidewalk or curb in a straight line. Then continue to lay sod in a brick work
pattern, staggering the edges of each row of sod.

2. Position and unroll each row

Place your next roll beside the first row. Unfurl the turf tightly beside the first row of sod as you go,
ensuring there are no gaps. When sodding a sloped area, lay the sod horizontally;
stake the sod if necessary.

3. Trim the sod for clean edges

Cut off any uneven edges wherever necessary with a sharp knife
or the edge of a shovel. Shape to fit the area.

4. Level your sod with a lawn roller

After all the sod has been laid, roll your new lawn with a lawn roller filled with water.
Roll to remove air pockets and to ensure your sod makes good contact with the soil.
If extremely dry, wet the newly laid sod before rolling.

5. Nourish your new sod with plenty of water

Immediately after installation, thoroughly water. Use a sprinkler to enable one section to be watered
while working on the next. Apply one inch of water depending on the conditions. Check by lifting
corners to see if water has penetrated through to soil.

Note: A dense healthy lawn is the best weed control as the weeds have no place to get started. If your neighbours or your previous lawn had insect problems, check your lawn regularly as control measures may be necessary.
