Did you know? Sheds have many uses beyond simple storage; they make great workshops, art studios, man caves, playhouses and much more.

The first step in deciding what size is right for you is to determine how you will use the storage building.
If you plan on using the shed to store tools and equipment follow these suggestions:

  • Make a list of all the items you would like to store inside your shed.
  • Lay out all the items that will need to be stored on the door in a square on the ground. Make sure there is
plenty of space for you to navigate inside the shed. We suggest adding 12in. to 36in. of extra space to
allow for extra space for walking.
  • Using a tape measure, measure how much space your tools occupy as they rest on the ground.
The results of this measurement will help you determine what size of a shed you will need.
  • As a general rule most people run out of door space before wall space in their sheds.

If you conclude from your measurements that your items will fit precisely into a 10'x10' shed, we recommend upgrading to the next sized shed. As your collection of tools grow over the years, the extra storage space will
come in handy. In addition, it will give you the much needed door space. While buying a larger shed may
cost more initially, if you run out of storage space many years later, you're wasting the true potential of your investment.

Add More Functionality

To easily add even more storage space to your shed, add accessories such as shelving units, cabinets
and workbenches. These accessories allow you to keep more items off the door. For example, instead of
storing your hedge trimmers or blowers on the door, you can store them on a shelf. Wall mounted storage
can help free space to store a tractor, lawn mower, go-kart or ATV.
