At Lowe's, we CARE about your gardening success. That is why for 2015 we are no longer offering the ever popular walleriana impatiens, best known as your shade impatiens, in our garden centres. This particular plant is susceptible to an airborne disease known as 'Downy Mildew' which results in full crop failure that may not be realized until the Summer, once they have been planted and established in beds, cutting their life (and your garden) short.
We have many alternative choices to ensure your success:
Premium Sunpatiens are perhaps the closest relative to your shade impatiens, but better! Similar in flower and leaf shape, these plants perform well in both shade and sun so you are no longer limited to planting impatiens in the shade. They have a wide range of colour options, but the best thing about them is the value. One of these plants covers the same area as 14 impatiens.
Premium plants for better results. Large flower, low maintenance, easy to grow plants, with all season blooms. Great in beds and containers.
*Both the Sunpatiens and New Guinea types are bred for their disease resistance.
Have a shady location? Try these alternatives for great performance and colour.
All Available in May.

What Dowry Mildew Looks Like - Early Stages:
What Dowry Mildew looks like Advanced Stages:
Leaves and flowers drop, resulting in bare, leafless stems. Infected stems soften and plants may collapse under wet and cool conditions.
Complete loss. Examples both beds and container trials.
