Project Difficulty: Easy
Decide how many rows of moulding
you would like and how long you want them to be.
For this project, we will use four 40-inch long rows, but you can choose whatever fits best for your space.
Use your saw to cut the moulding to your desired length.
Tip: Make sure to buy moulding with a lip on the top to hang your heels.
Here's a great example.
Use the brush to paint your moulding any colour or design of your choice.
You can choose to paint each piece the same shade or experiment with many colours!
Let the paint dry thoroughly.
Measure five inches from each end
of the moulding, and use your
countersink bit to drill a hole.
Drill an additional hole into the
centre of the moulding for added support.
Use your tape measure and level to position where you want the pieces of moulding to hang.
Be sure to leave enough vertical space between each piece of moulding so the shoes can hang comfortably.
Use a pencil to mark where the screw holes will align with the wall. Once you have confirmed the holes are level,
drill your drywall anchors into the wall over the pencil markings.
Place the moulding over the holes and use your Phillips screwdriver or power drill to secure the
moulding to the wall with screws. Repeat for the rest of the moulding pieces.
Add bumpers to the top of the moulding where you want to place your shoes
to prevent them from slipping. Lightly paint over the screws to finish the look.
Next, choose your favourite shoes to display and hang them over the moulding!
Tip: If you're looking for form and function, you can affix different types
of wall hooks to make your shoe rack and accessories rack as well. You can display
jewelry, purses, and other personal items for a unique wall feature.
