A quick, simple and inexpensive way to upgrade the look of your home is to replace old floor register vents with new ones. You're no longer limited to plain metal. You can now find wood, solid brass, or colour-coordinated high-impact plastic in a variety of styles that bring a decorative touch to what was an often overlooked item in the home.Lowe's is happy to provide this information as a service to you.
Believe it or not, there is a wide variety of sizes of registers available. Before you buy, be sure to measure the inside dimensions of the air duct. Don't try to buy from memory or "eyeballing."
For floor registers, lift the old one out and put the new one in. How's that for simplicity? Occasionally, the duct box isn't level with the floor and you'll have to push the box back down with the level of the floor.
Wall and ceiling registers are basically the same. Simply secure them with the screws provided.
Levers control the airflow amount and direction of cooled or heated air. Vacuum or dust to keep the louvers clean and the levers operating smoothly. Use a damp cloth if necessary - avoid household cleaners that could tarnish the material. Registers with filters can be washed under a faucet to remove dust. Let them dry completely before returning them to service.
