A positive first impression starts in the driveway. Repairing pot holes and cleaning the surface regularly ensures your asphalt driveway always looks its best. Driveway sealing is another technique that can help you stay two steps ahead and prevent damage before it occurs.
It may seem obvious, but the first step in any driveway project should always be clearing the space. Cars, toys, basketball nets, and other items should all be stored off of the driveway until the project is complete.
Once your driveway has been cleared, clean the entire surface, making sure it is free of dirt, debris, oil, and grease spots. Be sure to trim any grass or weeds that are overgrowing onto the driveway. Take the time to scrape clean all cracks and holes using a screwdriver or wire brush. This may take a bit of time to complete, but the process is well worth it for best results.
Before you begin sealing your driveway, it's important to repair all cracks, pot holes, depressions, and stains.

If the depression you're working on is 2.5cm (1") or less in depth, trowel enough product to fill the depression into the area and level. If it's deeper than 2.5cm, fill in layers of 2.5cm depth until it is levelled with the surrounding surface. To finish, seal with the EPOXYSHIELD® Driveway Sealer Plus 3x, EPOXYSHIELD® Ultimate Resurfacer and Sealer, or SEALKRETE® Driveway Sealer.
To remove automotive fluid stains, use EPOXYSHIELD® Premium Spot Cleaner. Start by covering the stained area with a generous amount of cleaner and letting it stand for 15 minutes. Next, scrub the area with a stiff-bristle brush and then wash it clean with water. Once it has dried, seal the stained area with EPOXYSHIELD® All Stain Primer. Allow sufficient time for the primer to dry and then seal with the EPOXYSHIELD® Driveway Sealer Plus 3x, EPOXYSHIELD® Ultimate Resurfacer and Sealer, or SEALKRETE® Driveway Sealer.
Once your driveway has been cleaned and repaired, apply the appropriate driveway sealer with a long-handled roller in 4'x4' sections.
Pro tip: Cross-roll using perpendicular strokes in each section for better coverage. Be sure to read and follow label directions for best results.
After your driveway is completely covered, let it dry completely before walking on the surface and parking your car. Most importantly, be prepared for admirers — your driveway will be the envy of the neighbourhood!
