4.4-cu ft High Efficiency Top-Load ENERGY STAR Washer

Enjoy exceptional cleaning and efficiency with a washer that combines the best of both worlds. The Whirlpool® 4.4 cu. ft. top load washer not only helps reduce shrinking and color bleeding with the Care Control temperature management system, but it also saves energy by using the right temperature for detergent.

Try customizing cleaning with the Fabric Senseâ„¢ wash system. It makes sure you always have the right temperature, cycle time and agitation speed, while a smooth motion agitator takes care of bringing laundry to the bottom of the wash basket where cleaning takes place. Thanks to specially designed ridges, this model can even clean twice the average size load.

  • Deep water wash option allows you to use an almost full tub of water when you need it
  • Quick cycle - clean lightly soiled loads in less time
  • 800 RPM - faster spin speeds in the washer mean less time in the dryer
  • Smooth Impeller - this washer's high-efficiency system features a specially designed low-profile plate at the bottom of the wash basket to give you more wash capacity and better fabric care
  • Up to 5 different adaptive wash actions provide a combination of powerful cleaning and gentle fabric care
  • Care control temperature management - adjusts the cold and hot water inlets to reach temperatures that are warm enough to dissolve detergents
  • Quiet Spin technology offers a unique suspension system that senses and adapts to each load, making upper-floor installation possible
  • Designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A

Purchased this washer at my local Lowes store. The sales lady was great and so far the product has done a wonderful job with my laundry. I love the ease of use of this washer and the price was right! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a non agitator HE washer!

Pretty Good Value
By Lowe's Guest from VA on Oct 06, 2014
Have had this for about two months. I wanted a no-frills top-loading unit without an agitator. I like to use liquid fabric softener and this does NOT have a dispenser for that. You have to use the Downey Ball with it, which does "sort of" work, but not nearly as well as when the washer dispenses the softener directly. This machine was a good value for a top loading washer without an agitator. I have bought top of the line pricey washers in the past, but unfortunately washers are so expensive to repair that I feel they are almost considered to be disposable items when they break. This is my third washer in 14 years. So I will stick with a good mid-level machine and not one with all the bells and whistles that costs twice as much. I had read some reviews that said it was very loud, but I have not found that to be the case. It does seem to have trouble with large bulky items such as a bathroom rug - the washer bin has trouble balancing the load for spinning and it clunks against the side of the washer. This is the only issue I have experienced, but I''m not worried about that since most loads aren''t like that. Would have given it five stars if it had a liquid fabric softener dispenser.

I wish I never purchased
By Lowe's Guest from Ohio, USA on Oct 02, 2014
I have had this washer 3 weeks . I had a repair man here due to oil leaking from gear box. Large puddle of oil. Whirlpool is covering the repairs but it makes me nervous to have a problem after such a short time.

One complaint...
By Lori B. from Location on Sep 21, 2014
There is no buzzer or signal to let you know your clothes are done. I thought that was standard with all machines, so I never thought to check. Other than that, the machine is fabulous and cleans like a dream!

After reading the bad reviews...read this
By Lowe's Guest from Cape Coral on Sep 12, 2014
I''ve seen the 1 & 2 star reviews of this product, and after owning this model for 4 months, I feel I can address them. I am not a Whirlpool fanguy, this washer is the first whirlpool product I have owned. I will say you cannot use this product like the older standard system washer. This is an HE (High Efficiency) system, which means it uses less water, and consequently less detergent. A lot of negative reviewers have said they had to wash loads multiple times to get them clean. No mention of how big these loads were, but a standard size load would be a little smaller in this system than an older one that uses more water. Many users put too much soap in, and always have, which leads to ''souring the load'' - causing odd smells and a feeling that the clothes are not clean (greasy and stiff). The detergent companies want users to fill the measuring cup that comes with the liquid detergent to the rim, but this is too much soap, and for HE washers, it''s WAY too much soap. Instructions say to use 1/4 to 1/3 cup of HE detergent for an average load. It''s important to check the label of the soap to make sure it is HE system soap. Since non-HE soap is not as concentrated, you have to use even less HE soap than most people are used to. Using the correct amount of this soap (and placing it into the bottom of the basin, instead of pouring it into the clothes) works to get clothes clean without any extra rinsing or additional cycles. As to the noise, this machine doesn''t really make much more noise than an older type washer, it just makes different noises (the ''grinding'' noise it makes is probably particularly alarming to people who aren''t expecting a washer to make those sounds). If you need a really quiet washer, look to another model/brand (and likely expect to pay a higher price). You need to change a few of the procedures you are used to from the older system to use this washer effectively (you need to put the right amount of HE soap in first, then pile clothing loosely and evenly up the walls of the tub, without putting clothes over the center section of the basin). Follow those simple rules (the procedure is printed on a label inside the lid of the machine) and this model will get clothes clean in one load, with much smaller amounts of water. To the people who complain they shouldn''t have to read the manual (''It''s washing machine...I shouldn''t have to read instructions for a washing machine), or who wrote that procedures for washing clothes should never change...I have no argument for these reviewers - some people should still be using old rotary dial landline phones and getting up from the sofa to change channels on their 1950s-era tube TV, and taking paper maps with them on trips, since newer replacement devices might force them to read some instructions to figure them out. Reading is hard!

Different but good
By Lowe's Guest from Atlanta, GA. on Sep 10, 2014
This is the first washer I''ve had without an agitator and also not able to control the water level. It''s taking some getting used to (especially the sounds it makes), but so far, so good.
