Great effort saver
By Thomas from Toronto, GTA on Feb 08, 2015
Casual Do-It-Yourselfer
We were recently hit by a storm that dropped 15 - 20 cm of snow and I had chance to put this snowblower to the test. Overall the snowblower performed well within my expectations. It easily handled the lightly packed snow. Although the throwing distance was not the 25ft that was advertised, I found that the throwing distance was more than sufficient for a typical two car driveway home found in the suburbs. As for the 2-ft snow embankment left by the city snowplows, a little bit of work is needed to help this machine out. If your plan is just to simply push your snowblower into the snowbank, then you are better off with a two-stage gas blower. With this snowblower you will need to chop down the snowbank and spread it out before using the snowblower to clear it. Although some labor is involved, it dramatically reduces the time and effort needed. The best thing about this snowblower is not having to deal with any gas, and that it is light enough that I can simply pick up and drop it on a mat indoors such that it dries off and is ready for the next snowstorm.

Great in theory, not so great in practice
By Beebz from lake Ontario region on Feb 04, 2015
I have a short two car wide driveway., not in the bad snow areas. At that price, it's 3 stars but at full price it would be 2 stars. Why? First, it's just not powerful enough, even at 15 amps. If the snow is fluffy light, then it easily blows through it. But in that case, you're faster pushing with a shovel. If it hits icy, thick, or wet heavy snow it bogs down and literally chokes. Second, and this cuts both ways, it's too light and slides around on my sloped driveway very easily. Third, the cord - it's far, far more irritating than you can imagine and yes I've used other outdoor equipment like mowers with cords but this is worse. The plug alone comes loose from the socket on the machine too easily. Oh, and don't forget you need heavy duty gauge extension cords, not the cheapie general purpose extension cords. I think it recommends 14 gauge or better and they aren't cheap. Finally, speaking of cheap, it feels a little cheap - very plasticky and thin, thin enough I can see the "spark flashes" from the electric motor at night when in use. Under heavy usage I fear this unit won't stand up. The reality is, if you get significant amounts of snow and need a blower get a gas single stage at least. All told, it's just a great idea that doesn't work in the real world all that well.

Huge mistake!!
By Patricia Gunness from London, Ontario on Jan 31, 2015
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son-in-law. Needless to say, it sat at my house in the box for a few weeks before I gave it to him; so, by the time he opened it, put it together and got some snow to use it on, the 30 day return period had passed. He started using it and, after a few minutes, it just stopped working. Of course, the response I got from Lowes was "Our policy is very strict" and they simply quoted the policy.

The company that made the machine offered to send a new one; but I expect that the new one will be just like the other one so, all in all, I made a huge mistake.

Excellent Machine - A Good Buy
By Masood from Brampton, ON on Jan 11, 2015
I have used this with 5-7 cm snow and it work perfectly fine. I have got this machine on Sale during XMAS time from Lowe's and I would say that it is very good addition. Very easy setup no worries about Gas, Oil changes etc. Light weight as well. I now regret that I should have bought this in 2013 as my back pain started because of the worst winter that we had in 2013.

Just use this for the first heavy snow in GTA this year. It handle 8 -10 inch on my drive way with easy. I haven't even use the 15 amp extension cord it required, l only have a 10 amp cord. Just make sure to lift back wheel up when you push so it can clean all the way to pavement. City snow plow leave a foot and half high compacted snow bank at end of drive way this morning. It took me 10 minutes to lose it up with shovel and this little besat throw them all off aside in 2 minutes. I Was amazed. Next time l,ll try to clean the snow bank without losen up when l got 15 amp cord.

Bought this item out of desperation and let me say that I was pleasantly surprise with the quality and the power; don’t try blowing heavy snow though. Very light and easy to handle. I cleaned a 3 car driveway and my deck. Great buy! highly recommend it.
