Customer Service is AWFUL!
By Jeff from Clayton, NC, USA on Feb 21, 2015
I purchased this GP3300 Generac generator and when assembling it, I noticed that one of the leg mounts was missing. When calling Generac I got the run around and was even told it would be easier to go buy the missing piece rather than open up a case with them, which if I did, I would have to provide photos and "concrete evidence" that I what I was saying was true. Steer clear of Generac, or buy at your own risk! I did decide to try and purchase the part from a third party. If that is a headache, I''m returning the generator.

MET MY NEEDS
By BILL from "BEAUTIFUL" Sherman, TEXAS on Jan 03, 2015
Very "KNOWLEDGEABLE" salesman demonstrated the Generac generator I had asked to see. I was told this company, GENERAC, set the "benchmark" for the generator industry. The salesman pulled the generator out from the display shelf ... with ONE pull, the generator started !!! I "IMMEDIATELY" told him I WANTED it !!! ALSO ... I''m SO glad to have this opportunity to tell others that I am MOST grateful and THANKFUL that Lowe''s offers the 10% discount to disabled veterans and to active duty and to retired veterans. I will ever be in their gratitude !!! Hard to describe this feeling of "appreciation" from such a generous nationwide business !!! THANK YOU LOWE''S !!! I''ve wanted to say THIS for many years !!!

Not really 3,300 Watts!
By Lowe's Guest from Palmer, Alaska on Dec 19, 2014
This is my 2nd Generac generator (first was a GP5500 that lasted about 550 hours). After a month''s use, I am extremely disappointed. It runs well and fires without too many pulls- even at near zero temperatures. My problem is with the circuit breaker. Though it is rated at 14 amps (and the entire generator at 3,30-watts), it trips at far, far less current than that. I live off-grid, and this is used to charge a battery bank through my house''s inverter. As such, I can precisely control how much current the charger pulls. Want to know when it trips the breaker? 6 amps. A trip to Generac''s website finds many, many owners of this model experiencing the same problem- some are unable to run even 1,000-watt appliances without tripping the breaker (on a 3,300-watt generator!). I''m going to try and return mine tomorrow for a GP5500- at least its 20 amp breaker works!

Good general purpose generator
By Lowe's Guest from Asheville, NC, USA on Nov 24, 2014
I looked at this initially because Generac is a top name in generators. The price was also a big plus, and overall I am happy with the product. Great design and very compact. The one thing I am VERY disappointed about is the power quality. None of the sales product information mentioned it. And I ASSumed (my mistake for not researching more) that a Generac with a 240v output would run anything. It won''t. Instructions say do use for any sensitive items (TV''s and other household products requiring smooth low distortion power) and after doing the research I found that THD is over 5%. So for non electronic power tools, lights, small heaters, and other simple items it is great. But don''t expect to power your fridge, microwave and TV in a power failure.

Started First Pull
By Lowe's Guest from Alabama on Oct 27, 2014
This started first pull out of the box. I ran it for 10 minutes let it sit for 30 minutes and the second pull it started up immediately. I tested to how much it would run and this ran several household items, very powerful for a little unit. It is heavy so up and down stairs is a bit much but very happy with this purchase.

Cute Lil Thing
By Lowe's Guest from Missoula, MT, USA on Sep 28, 2014
I use generators daily because I live off grid. I charge the solar batteries, run the microwave and electric hot water heater and well pump, and run power tools to build my house all with generators.. We got this generator as a backup when our 5500 had to go to Lowes for repairs under the extended protection plan. If you use generators as much as I do, I highly recommend buying from Lowes and buying the EPP. The generator started on the first pull, but subsequent starts have required up to a half dozen pulls. I don''t know what the deal is with that - a lot of fiddling with the choke. It has trouble running the small camper microwave, even when everything else is shut off. So I have suspicions about the 3300 watt rating. I have not yet put my Kilawatt meter on the microwave; it could be a power hog. But it does run the camper 120V hot water heater, as long as the battery charger is plugged into a receptacle on a different generator circuit. The generator trips the breaker when trying to start a 15 amp compressor or a 14 amp miter saw, but will run a 14 amp circular saw although it bogs down a little at first. The 240V receptacle is the type meant for 20 amp; the L-shaped prong for the ground plug points outward instead of inward. I have what to me is the more common 30 plug (where the bend on the ground prong points in towards the center) on the well pump so I couldn''t try it out causing some minor grief for me. They should have used the 30 amp receptacle in my opinion. As mentioned earlier, the (2) 120V legs are on separate 14 amp breakers so when using the included RV adapter all the circuits are on one leg. If you use more than 14 amps total in your RV while using this adapter, the breaker will trip. But if kept within its limits the generator has performed well for me which is why I gave it a good review. I wish it had a bit more power, but I paid for 3300 watts and that is what I got. It won''t run big tools, but compared to bigger generators this thing sips gas. I should mention that when we returned the older generator for repairs, we explained the fact that we live off grid and it would really hurt us to live without a generator while it was being repaired. So the manager gave us a great price on this GP3300 to help us out. Great customer service like this is why we will continue to make our big purchases at Lowes. Also the EPP (extended protection plan) was well worth the money in this case.
