Write a Review
By Lowe's Guest from GA on Dec 14, 2014
I purchased this mixer because it got good reviews and it seemed like the best value. I went to put it together, it was missing parts, so like the instructions said, I called Kobalt to get the missing parts. They no longer make parts for this mixer, and no longer cover it with any type of warranty. If it was not for Lowes 90 day warranty I would have been out of luck.

Great Value!
By Lowe's Guest from Watervliet, MI 49098, USA on Aug 21, 2014
I had been shopping around for an affordable cement mixer. Looked everywhere online - Harbor Freight, Amazon, and about 25 other tool related sites. This one had the best overall reviews and was the most economical. Also, I saved an additional 10% by ordering it at Lowes.com because of a Lowe''s online coupon I found (search Lowe''s Promo codes online) and picked it up myself. It takes about a little over a half an hour to assemble by yourself, very easy - much faster and easier if you have two people. Mixes two 80lb bags with ease and quick. I recommend starting with a little water then putting the dry mix in before you start it. Once running just use your hose and lightly mist until you have the consistency you want. I used it for mixing concrete for 40'' of footings and a couple 3''x4'' pads. Very impressed and easy to clean. Looks like it will last a long time. Well worth the money.

Durable and Easy to use
By Lowe's Guest from Connell, WA 99326, USA on Jun 26, 2014
Bought this yesterday took about 1 hr to assemble. Put it to work today. Mixed 2 60 lb bags per load (did 24 bags), cleaned the machine up, and it only took 1 hr 45 min to do the entire job including leveling. Used to take 4 hrs to do 8 bags. Well worth the money.

Great Purchase
By Lowe's Guest from DEEP in the heart of Texas on Jun 07, 2014
This mixer is a great item for our family. It is easy to work, and mixes well. I got a great deal for an item we use on a constant basis. The Lowes Associates that helped me out were very curtious and new what exactly what I needed.

Good Mixer
By Lowe's Guest from Dallas, TX, USA on May 20, 2014
My first mixer purchase. It was a display model and a little dinged up when I got it, but it worked flawlessly, and I got a pretty good discount for the damages. Good value for me.

Misleadingly good value - ready for hard work
By Lowe's Guest from Central Virginia on May 08, 2014
Like the other reviews indicate this is good tool. I don''t write many reviews, but this one merits it. I''ll just jot down my impressions. Assembly was fine, the instructions were clear enough as long as you don''t try to rush it. Note- grease the axles at installation and it will keep out water and sand / concrete. I bought this based on reviews and the fact that it had the smaller wheels supporting the barrel - other mixers count on the barrel mount at the motor alone. The mixer is steady and sturdy, even when filled to capacity with two 80 pound bags of pre-mix concrete and water. The mixing action seems pretty thorough and with a little scraping (when stopped - for safety''s sake) the concrete gets a good mixing. I tend to use a drier mix than some I''ve seen - too much water ruins concrete''s strength and workability. I got this for a list of DIY home projects. Concrete work is dirty, back-breaking, heavy work - now at least the mixing part of the job can be the resting part of it too! This is my secret concrete work pattern: Fill some 5 gallon buckets with water near the mixing station. Make sure you have all the tools there and ready. Make double, then triple, sure your pour area is ready (framed, rebar, forms, path for wheel barrow, etc). Wear thick rubber gloves, boots, eye protection, put plastic drop cloth under the mixing area... Add water by scooping from your buckets (3 quarts - pre-measured using a milk jug with the top cut off), add color - if used, add glass fibers - if used, start the mixer. Then, carry over an 80 bag of pre-mix concrete, place it into a "mud pan" (the black plastic shallow tubs sold for mixing mortar and concrete by hand) under the barrel on the ground. Cut the bag in half while on its side in the mud pan using a trowel or box cutter. Add one half of the bag of pre-mix to the mixer - pour in slowly trying to keep your face away from the cloud of concrete dust. Add the second half of the bag of concrete. Expect some splashing from the wet mix. Lift the mud pan and dump any spilled concrete into the mixer. If you''re doing a second bag at the same time, add more water at first, but then add still more to bring your total water up to 6 quarts (1 and 1/2 galloons total). Add the second bag in halves, just like the first. At this time, the concrete may still look too dry or chunky - don''t worry. Add small amounts of water by scooping from your buckets. Never add too much water - and never too fast. Never exceed the maximum ratio recommended by the pre-mix company. When you add water, pour it in at the very lip of the mixer and the water will wash the powder into the rest of the slurry. Let it mix for at least 5 mins, in the meantime, move the mud pan away and bring over the wheel barrow, ready to catch the mix. Turn off the mixer and dump / scrape the concrete into the wheelbarrow using the strong and well positioned handles. Then move the wheel barrow away and turn the mixer back on. Then pour an entire 5 gallon bucket of water into the mixer - flowing the water in at the lip. This rinses the mixer - gets it pretty clean. Let the rinse water do its thing for several minutes as the mixer runs. Turn off the mixer and let the water sit. It will keep anything from setting up in the mixer while you work. Wheel-off your concrete and pour it according to plan. When you''re ready for the next load of pre-mix - tip the mixer and pour the rinse water into the same 5 gallon bucket. Save this water and use it over and over again. It will collect some sand gravel, and cement - but that''s its job. Uncured concrete is harmful, and doing this makes as little dangerous waste water as possible. More about the mixer: the motor is plenty strong and the drive chain is sealed - no service required. The power buttons are plastic covered but I try to keep the motor area relatively clean. Recommended no more than 50'' of 12 gauge extension cord. The motor is not too noisy, all things considered. Plastic barrel won''t rust, and any dry concrete can be jarred off with a rubber mallet. The base is steady for stationary work - but make sure the ground is fairly level. The mixer blades rise easy and don''t collect too much concrete if you keep up with scraping / rinsing between loads. I would never try to move it when there''s anything in the barrel. I tried dumping with the motor running, and although it worked, I felt too much wobble, and felt it was a disaster in waiting. For me, dump while stopped. So far I haven''t seen rust forming anywhere, but I do try to keep tools clean. Storage in the garage is possible, you can always use the space underneath to store other small stuff and your concrete tools right in the barrel. This is a hard working mixer, If I were a "concrete guy" I''d even consider it in commercial everyday use. I can''t believe the value at this price point. Hands down the best you can do at this price.

Best concrete / mortar mixer I''ve ever owned.
By Lowe's Guest from North Myrtle Beach, SC, USA on May 01, 2014
Some really great features in this Mixer. The electric motor and oil filled reduction gear are integrated. I have half of a 5 gal. bucket covering the moter to keep it clean. The very heavy poly mixing drum is removable for easy cleaning. Replace the included cotter pin with a hair pin clip for quicker and easier removal of the drive pin The metric nuts and bolts are nuckle busters. They fit too loosely into my metric sockets and wrenches
