It does everything that the box said it would. It is extremely easy to use. The part that goes into the window is very sturdy. Which is very good. I would recommend having a saw to trim it to fit, so you can have a clean fit.

Took care of my problem.
By Lowe's Guest from Mooresville, NC on Jul 20, 2014
In my 1000 square foot home, the whole house AC went out in mid July. It turned out to be 5 days before the parts were available for the repair. The outside temp was averaging 85 degrees. I bought this unit because it was portable and I would be able to move it from room to room depending where I was at and what needed to be cooled. The unit was easy to set up, only took 20 minutes and with the use of some pedestal fans, kept the house at 78 degrees. In the evening I would move it to the bedroom where it cooled the room to 74 degrees. The sound of the unit did not bother me since I always run a fan in the bedroom for the white noise and I like to sleep in cooler temperatures. Moving the unit from room to room only took about 10 minutes. On day 3 I went to empty the water pan, only a little water came out, I would estimate it at around a cup. Overall, the unit did well and served the purpose I bought it for. I would recommend it to others that are looking to cool a room effectively.

Almost instant cool air
By Lowe's Guest from Shepherd, MT 59079, USA on Jul 16, 2014
This was so easy to install, it took minutes and what a difference. It is fairly quiet and really puts out the cool air. It doesn''t take up much room and looks good too!

I purchased this unit at Lowe''s after checking out two other stores. The first sales representative from a major department store tried to convince me of the inefficiency of portable air conditioners. At the second store, the cashier pointed me in the direction of the portable AC units and then walked by without asking if I had any questions or needed help. As it turns out, this portable air conditioner was less expensive, offered a two-year warranty and greater cooling coverage. I am happy that I decided to purchase this unit instead of one from either of the other stores.

The upstairs loft in our Florida home never was cool enough. This unit does a cathedral ceiling and approximately 800 sq ft perfectly!

Not as expected.
By Lowe's Guest from Phoenix, AZ, USA on Jul 13, 2014
Purchased this Portable Air Conditioner yesterday, 07/12/2014 expecting it to at the least make my small bedroom comfortable. Installation was a breeze, I installed it at about 10:00am, turned in on at 10:30 am, the outside temp was in the mid 90s at the time, inside temp was 86, I checked the temp on the unit right against the outlet, it got down to 60, however my room didn''t cool off until the evening, the lowest during the day was 81F, and at about 3;00am it finally cooled to 77F, never any lower. I covered all cracks, and spaces around the door and window, however it seemed to not push the air out forceful enough to go around the whole small room, about 200 sq. ft. I would not recommend this unit. I plan to return it. I was very disappointed, as my central went out Friday after store hours and no service until tomorrow. I do have a home warranty, however it was to late to get any service scheduled until tomorrow. Bad purchase, unless you have a really small space, it might be okay, but with a bedroom that isn''t any bigger than any Master BR in a small 1700 sq ft. home, it''s not for you.

good if you have to get a portable type ac unit
By Lowe's Guest from northern Idaho on Jul 12, 2014
I tried the 10k it wasn''t enough so I bought the 12k. Its in a up stairs living room\ kitchen area approximately 350-400 square feet with 10ft ceiling. It runs none stop and on a 90 degree day and most of the night to cool house down barely keeps living room tolerable. If you have right windows I would highly recommend getting a regular window ac unit, they cool better and are cheaper. The major downfall to this unit is that it intakes cold air from inside heats it up and blows it outside in high quantity, which sucks in hot air from outside which kinda defeats the purpose. My windows are horizontally sliding which forces me to use this type. A regular 12k ac unit I swear cools twice as effectively. If you are looking to buy one get the next size bigger than you think you need. When I bought it I was having issues with the gfi on the end of the power cord melting and failing. The simple fix to this is get a 10 gauge 3ft extension cord. This will keep heat at the wall and not at the gfi, been working fine for over a year that way.
